Saralyn Ward
Saralyn Ward, NASM-CPT, is a teacher, entrepreneur, and advocate whose passion is to inspire and empower others to live their best lives. After studying dance and kinesiology at Penn State University, Saralyn moved to New York City to pursue a professional dance career. Her aspirations took a turn, however, when an ACL injury led her to Pilates.
Certified by STOTT Pilates in 2004, and then by Pilates Academy International in 2007, Saralyn has taught Pilates in Manhattan, Denver, and Boulder, in both fitness and rehabilitation settings. She became a Certifying Instructor in 2008, and taught Anatomy, Biomechanics, and Corrective Exercise for Special Populations to aspiring instructors. She’s also a certified personal trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine and has starred in several fitness videos for companies like Shape Magazine, Reebok, and Gaiam.
Saralyn partnered with Denver spinal surgeon Dr. Shay Bess, offering rehabilitative Pilates to scoliosis and spondylolisthesis patients, and she was the Pilates Director at Pura Vida Athletic Club, where she specialized in pre- and postnatal Pilates, helping numerous women navigate fitness postpartum.
Saralyn first became a mother in 2013, and despite her experience teaching postpartum women, she was shocked to realize how little information was available about pelvic floor health, diastasis recti, mental health, and hormone health after childbirth. After struggling with these issues herself, she made it her mission to bridge the postpartum information gap and offer a holistic approach to postpartum fitness that would empower women as they entered motherhood.
In June of 2018, Saralyn published Amazon’s #1 New Kindle Release in Babies and Toddlers: The Guide to Survive Motherhood: Newborn Edition – the first truly interactive and comprehensive resource for new moms. In 2019, Saralyn developed the Better After Baby mobile app, which offers postpartum workouts as well as a digital village of postpartum and pediatric experts, right in the palm of your hand. Her app caught the eye of the US Air Force, who asked her to develop the content for their own postpartum app, Fit Warrior Mom.
When she’s not teaching or falling asleep at her computer, you’ll find Saralyn climbing mountains or skiing down them, with 3 kiddos in tow.
