Pilates is a form of exercise using equipment like a reformer, spring tower, arc, and other props. Originally called “Contrology” by it’s creator, Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s, Pilates is a form of exercise that makes movement accessible to all types of bodies. Initially adopted by dancers with the New York City ballet, the method spread to other performers and boomed in the 1970s in Hollywood.
At CONNECT we use Balanced Body studio reformers with Konnector kits. This top of the line equipment gives us the flexibility to adapt the Pilates method to meet your needs, wherever you are on your wellness journey
As a physical therapist, I was drawn to Pilates because of two things – its adaptability and efficiency. The practice of Pilates taught me to integrate the body once again and brought a component of mindful movement to my practice. I credit my Pilates training with my success as a PT. I am able to more readily diagnose and treat chronic issues because I have a deeper appreciation for how the body is connected. Pilates has also given me tools to help clients keep moving despite their injuries or pains. What a gift!
